When teaching avalanche courses, I often give my students this Avalanche Scavenger Hunt handout. The scavenger hunt lists dozens of things that can influence avalanches. It also lists most of the "informal" (aka on-the-fly) snow stability tests and the components of ALPTRUTh. Students can "compete" by seeing who can find the most items on the handout, or simply use it as a reference.
