Backcountry Access (BCA) Tracker Avalanche Transceiver Recall

Backcountry Access (BCA) announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of Tracker4 avalanche transceivers on May 26, 2022.

Cause and Symptoms

This recall is due to a "plastic production issue" that may result in the switch falling off the transceiver. If this occurs, the user would not be able to turn the transceiver On or Off or use the transceiver to search for an avalanche victim.

Affected Transceivers

This issue only affects Tracker4 avalanche transceivers with serial numbers that start with 21H05 or 21H06 that were sold after June 1, 2021.

What You Should Do

If you own a Tracker4 avalanche transceiver, look at the serial number which is located inside the battery compartment. If the serial number begins with 21H05 or 21H06, BCA will replace your transceiver with a new unit at no cost. To register for a free replacement unit, complete the Tracker4 Recall Replacement Form.
