Updating the Ortovox S1

Ortovox S1 Avalanche Transceiver
Ortovox S1
Technical noteThe Ortovox S1 can be updated (read about upgrading the Barryvox Pulse or the Pieps DSP). The update is done using an infrared interface. The ability to update your beacon is important, because it allows you to get enhancements and new features without purchasing a new avalanche transceiver. To determine which version of the software you have, click on the wrench icon and then the "i" icon.

Unlike the Pieps and Pulse, there isn't a charge to update the S1 at a retail stores (good decision, Ortovox). There is a nominal charge if you choose to mail your transceiver to Ortovox (to cover shipping and insurance). Contact Ortovox USA or visit the Ortovox website for details.
